19th-Century Japanese Prints: Nocturne, Moon and Silence

From 18 September to 19 December 2026, Casa de Cultura Les Bernardes in Salt presents 19th-Century Japanese Prints: Nocturne, Moon and Silence, featuring works by Utagawa Hiroshige, Utagawa Kuniyoshi and Tsukioka Yoshitoshi.

The exhibition explores the world of ukiyo-e—“images of the floating world”—through the themes of night, moonlight, landscape and stillness. These prints reveal the precision and sensitivity of a visual language that transformed artistic perception in the 19th century and had a deep influence on Western art.

We take part with a selection of Japanese prints that invites visitors to discover the expressive power of printmaking, the subtlety of colour, and the role of light and empty space within the composition.
