El Cor de Noies de l’Orfeó Català will perform pieces by Catalan composers, accompanied by the dances of Raquel Gualtero, under the stage direction of Anna Romaní and with Maria Mauri Fàbregas on the piano.
Since its inception, El Cor de Noies de l’Orfeó Català has opened the doors for its singers to work on a repertoire exclusively created for treble voice choirs. It is a very enriching experience for the School of Choirs, as it offers the singers who leave the Children’s Choir the opportunity to complete their choral education in a choir for girls.
El Cor de Noies de l’Orfeó Català, founded in 2000 by Lluís Vilamajó, is made up of 42 young women between 16 and 25 years old, most of them from the children’s choirs of the Orfeó. Currently directed by Montserrat Meneses with Maria Mauri on the piano, the choir stands out for the freshness and tenderness of its voices and incorporates theatrical elements in its concerts. It has collaborated with prominent conductors and orchestras, such as the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as artists like the singer Noa and dance and circus companies. The choir has performed internationally and has won awards at the Cantonigròs Festival. Recent projects include participation in international festivals and the premiere of works by contemporary composers.
